HISTORY & ARCHITECTURAL CONTEXT

The Yeşilırmak runs through Amasya’s historic centre. The Low Bridge has Roman origins and was rebuilt over time. Its name reflects how its old arches came closer to water level as the riverbed rose. Historic houses and the slopes of Harşena frame the riverside cityscape.

Why visit

The Low Bridge’s old arches and later additions show how the riverside city changed over time.

VISITOR TIP — WHAT NOT TO MISS
