Walk through Kaleiçi from Hadrian’s Gate or Yivli Minare. The descent to the harbour is steep; allow extra time for the climb back.

Narrow streets and houses with projecting wooden upper floors descend through the walled old town to the harbour. Stone walls, the breakwater and houses on the slope reveal the historic city’s connection to the sea.
