Before you go

Getting there & around

The centre suits walking; Sille and Çatalhöyük require a vehicle or a public transport service checked in advance. Arrange the return from Çatalhöyük before leaving.

Where to stay
  • A central base

Before booking, check access to your first planned stop and any step-free entrance you need.

What to eat, when to visit

Lunch break

Plan walking visits in spring or autumn, a midday break in summer and shorter outdoor stops in winter.

4 visitor tips

Allow time between stops

Mevlâna, the Bedesten and Aziziye are close together; leave half an hour to walk to Karatay. Arrange return transport for a Çatalhöyük day.

Treat the trip to Sille separately from the central walk.

Check indoor access

Mevlâna’s entrance desk opens at 10:00 on Mondays. Karatay and Çatalhöyük close at 16:40 in winter; visit mosques between prayers.

Do not start a Monday Mevlâna visit before 10:00.

Start with the short plan

Four central stops suit half a day. If adding Çatalhöyük, reduce the number of museums and keep a lunch break.

Keep the museum list short if shopping in the Bedesten.

Plan outdoor stops around the weather

The plain can be windy and exposed at midday; take a hat, water and closed shoes to the excavation.

Prepare for Çatalhöyük without relying on shade.
