PRACTICAL ACCESS & WALKING METHOD
Travel by vehicle west of Kaş towards Gelemiş. Allow for roughly 45 km by road from town; this is not a short addition to a central walk.
HISTORY & ARCHITECTURAL CONTEXT
The Lycian League’s council house and neighbouring theatre reflect Patara’s political and civic importance. A Roman monumental gateway, baths and colonnaded street spread across the site. The ancient harbour city behind the dunes shares its landscape with today’s beach.
Why visit
Compare the theatre and council building on the same walk.
VISITOR TIP — WHAT NOT TO MISS
There is little shade; carry water and keep out of protected dunes and nesting areas.
