HISTORY & ARCHITECTURAL CONTEXT

For centuries the heart of Gaziantep’s artisan economy, the Coppersmith Bazaar is a grid of narrow stone-paved lanes lined with open-front workshops where craftsmen hammer and chisel single sheets of copper by hand. Alongside engraved trays, coffee pots, and cooking pans, neighboring stalls house traditional yemeni leather shoemakers and mother-of-pearl inlay masters.

Why visit

To watch master artisans hand-chisel intricate patterns into copperware right at their workshop thresholds.

VISITOR TIP — WHAT NOT TO MISS

Walk through between 10:00 and 17:00 on a weekday or Saturday when the workshops are actively hammering and engraving.
