Gaziantep Hamam Museum (Paşa Bathhouse)
Housed in the 1577 bathhouse of the Lala Mustafa Pasha complex beneath the citadel, illustrating Ottoman water architecture and bath traditions.
Built in 1577 as part of Lala Mustafa Pasha’s complex, the historic Paşa Hamamı preserves its original sequence of domed changing hall (soğukluk), tepidarium (ılıklık), hot room (sıcaklık), private alcoves, and furnace chamber. Beneath star-pierced stone domes, the museum displays engraved copper bath bowls, mother-of-pearl clogs (nalın), olive-oil soaps, and the social customs of traditional Antep bathhouses.
Why visit
To walk through the cold, warm, and hot domed chambers of an intact sixteenth-century Ottoman bathhouse.
Visit around midday when sunlight beams straight through the glass oculus openings in the stone dome onto the central marble platform.
