HISTORY & ARCHITECTURAL CONTEXT

Built in the early eighteenth century by Darendeli Hüseyin Pasha, Zincirli Bedesten runs through a long stone-vaulted hall cool even on the hottest summer afternoons. Flanked by dozens of arched alcoves, its central aisle brings together Gaziantep’s signature kutnu striped textiles, sun-dried vegetables, wild thyme (zahter), crushed red pepper, and traditional copper and mother-of-pearl crafts.
